GPH Builders Merchants Aberdeenshire League, Fraserburgh v Hermes, Thursday 13th October 2022

The young Broch started brightly and Zane Laird gave the home side an early lead netting after 5 minutes. Callum Kelly doubled the lead on 18 minutes thundering home a shot via the crossbar. Eight minutes later Zane Laird latched onto a Flynn McKay through ball to make the score 3-0.

The Broch striker, who has been featuring for the first team this season completed his hat-trick on 33 minutes firing home after a corner kick broke kindly for him. Just on the half time whistle Hermes pulled one back when Brunon Paszkiewicz curled a free-kick past Sam Inglis in the home goal.

Just as they did in the first half the home side started with a bang, substitute Vinnie Ingleby racing onto a long through ball to score past keeper Callum Duncan. It was 6-1 on 56 minutes when Adam Henderson saw his header from a corner deflect in off a Hermes defender.

The Broch extended their lead on the hour when McKay got on the end of a sweeping move to net from close range. The home side were rampant now and another half-time substitute Jake Garden volleyed home a corner kick which had been cleared into his path. Hermes almost pulled another goal back on 80 minutes when Gafar Abari released Jack Booth but Daniel Cummings who had earlier replaced Inglis did really well to save with his feet.
