Recap
Breedon Scottish Highland Football League, Fraserburgh v Clachnacuddin, Saturday 8th October 2022
A youthful Clach side made the trip south to the Bellslea and nearly found themselves a goal down in 3 minutes when Scott Barbour’s cross just evaded the outstretched leg of Zane Laird. Six minutes later a driving run by Greg Buchan released Connor Wood inside the box who saw his shot save by Daniel Rae. Barbour then curled in a free kick which William West headed wide.
The home side took the lead on 19 minutes when Barbour’s cross was deflected into the path of Ross Aitken who knocked the ball home at the back post from close range for his first goal for the club. Four minutes later a Barbour free kick from the left was met by the head of Bryan Hay only for Rae to make a good save down to his right.
Clach’s first venture up the field saw Robbie Thompson fire in a 25 yarder which Joe Barbour pushed away, Alisdair Riddle retrieved the ball and crossed for James Anderson who headed straight at Barbour. Barbour then latched onto a mistake by Gary Warren but he could only screw his shot wide. Alasdair Gillies then shot wide after being set up by Lewis Mackenzie on 34 minutes.
A minute later Wood drove down the right and crossed for Barbour who headed wide of Rae’s goal. Thompson then tried his luck from a free kick but Barbour pulled off a routine save on 41 minutes.

The home side had obviously been given a rocket at the break as within six minutes the doubled their lead. Greg Buchan managed to find space on the right and cut the ball back for Logan Watt to rifle the ball home from ten yards. Five minutes later Watt had a go from 25 yards which produced a good save from Rae.
The third goal duly arrived on 58 minutes when Barbour held off his defender before crossing for Aitken to nod home at the back post. Sean Butcher crossed for Ryan Sargent who saw his first time effort deflected wide. It was 4-0 on 76 minutes when substitute Butcher got on the end of West’s square ball to tap the ball home.
Two minutes later Warren was penalised for handball inside the penalty area. Aitken surprisingly stepped up but his tame effort was easily saved by Rae to deny the full-back his hat-trick. The fifth goal was only delayed by a minute when Paul Campbell raced onto a short back-pass by Gillies and rounded Rae to slot the ball into an empty net. Three minutes from the end Paul Young fired in a shot which whistled wide.
