Gary Harris confirms retirement from football

Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Forres Mechanics signalled the end of Gary Harris football career as he confirmed he would be retiring from the game. He could not have picked a better way to end a glittering stay at the Broch than picking up a Highland League winners medal to go alongside the Aberdeenshire Cup and Aberdeenshire Shield winners medals he had already won.

The former Huntly, Turriff United (twice), Keith and Deveronvale striker signed for Fraserburgh in September 2016 and scored on his debut in a Scottish Cup tie at Gala Fairydean Rovers. Overall the 34 year old made 115 appearances for the club scoring 65 times including 12 during the current campaign. Had it not been for some serious injuries during his time with the Broch, no doubt he would have scored even more goals in the Black & White.

Gary twice won the Aberdeenshire Shield during his time with Turriff United including a famous victory over Aberdeen at Balmoor Stadium.

Everyone connected with Fraserburgh FC wishes Gary, Ellie and the family all the best for the future, you are welcome back at Bellslea Park any time.

200 Goals for Scott Barbour

Scott Barbour’s second goal in tonight’s 4-2 victory over Strathspey Thistle was his 200th for the club over two spells. Fig as he’s more commonly known actually made his debut for the club against Clachnacuddin in the final match of the 2008/09 season. After a short time away Kris Hunter signed Scott at the start of the 2011/12 season and he netted his first goal in a 3-3 draw at Huntly.

His goalscoring exploits over four campaigns earned Scott a move to Formartine United to be reunited with Kris at the start of the 2015/16 season and whilst he bagged his fair share of goals for the North Lodge Park side he returned “home” at the beginning of the 2018/19 season. Overall Scott has made 277 appearances for the Broch and averages a goal every 1.4 games, a fantastic return.

He is now only 10 goals behind club legend Davie Robertson (210) and 37 behind our all time leading goalscorer Michael Stephen (237). Well done Fig here’s hoping for many more goals in the Black and White.

100 up for Lewis Davidson & Grant Campbell reaches 50th Appearance

Congratulations to Lewis Davidson and Grant Campbell on reaching 100 and 50 appearances for the club respectively in yesterday’s 2-0 victory against Inverurie Loco Works.

Lewis who made his debut for the Broch against Wick Academy in 2017 has scored 4 times during his time at Bellslea and but for work commitments would have made many more appearances.

Grant joined the club in October of 2019, making his debut in the Aberdeenshire Cup Final win over Formartine United. He has netted 7 times and is looking to add to his 3 Highland League winners medals from his time at Cove Rangers.

We hope both players have many more matches in the black and white for the club.
