Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Forres Mechanics signalled the end of Gary Harris football career as he confirmed he would be retiring from the game. He could not have picked a better way to end a glittering stay at the Broch than picking up a Highland League winners medal to go alongside the Aberdeenshire Cup and Aberdeenshire Shield winners medals he had already won.
The former Huntly, Turriff United (twice), Keith and Deveronvale striker signed for Fraserburgh in September 2016 and scored on his debut in a Scottish Cup tie at Gala Fairydean Rovers. Overall the 34 year old made 115 appearances for the club scoring 65 times including 12 during the current campaign. Had it not been for some serious injuries during his time with the Broch, no doubt he would have scored even more goals in the Black & White.
Gary twice won the Aberdeenshire Shield during his time with Turriff United including a famous victory over Aberdeen at Balmoor Stadium.
Everyone connected with Fraserburgh FC wishes Gary, Ellie and the family all the best for the future, you are welcome back at Bellslea Park any time.
