It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of William Baxter Ritchie, simply known as Baxter. Despite having his double vaccination, Baxter succumbed on Sunday to the awful virus that has been in our lives for the past 20 odd months. Baxter turned 72 last month.
Baxter played briefly for the Broch in the late 60’s / early 70’s and was on the Committee at the club many years including our title winning season of 2001/2002. He is pictured above with the League Championship Trophy. It is somewhat fitting that the Broch currently sit top of the league.
Baxter was best known for his time in Amateur Football in the town with Redburn AFC as well as a spell in Junior Football in Aberdeen with Parkvale JFC.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 2pm and after the service the hearse will be passing Bellslea Park around 2.30pm for those who want to pay their respects in that way.
